Cataract Canyon River Rafting Trips

Itinerary

Here's some information that we hope you find helpful as you prepare to join us for an unforgettable experience in the heart of Canyon Country.

Meeting Place and Time

7:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Grand Vista Hotel, 2790 Crossroads Blvd, Grand Junction, Colorado. I-70 exit 31. Phone (800) 800-7796 or (970) 241-8411. The front desk will store your extra luggage, valuables, car keys, etc.

Optional Meeting Places and Times (by prior arrangement)

9:30 a.m. at the fuel station in Thompson Springs, Utah, I-70 Exit 187.

10:00 a.m. at the Potash boat ramp, 20 miles southwest of Moab, Utah, on State Highway 279. (River Trip Only option) A map will be provided.

Look for Adventure Bound drivers and guides wearing blue Adventure Bound polo shirts.

Dry bags for your personal gear will be available from your driver, or at the Potash boat ramp for River Trip Only guests.

What Happens Next?

Once you've been given a large dry bag, you'll need to pack just about everything in it. Leave out anything you might need during the day, like sunscreen, a hat, camera, rainwear, etc. These items can be carried in a small pack for easy access throughout the day. We'll then load up and head for the launch point — the Potash boat ramp southwest of Moab, Utah.

We'll make one stop before leaving Grand Junction where you can purchase beverages (beer, wine and soft drinks) for your trip. Guests joining us at Thompson Springs or Potash should purchase their preferred beverages before arriving at the meeting place. Beverages in cans are highly recommended.

When you arrive at Potash, your river guides will greet you and transfer your dry bags and beverages to the rafts. You will be fitted with a life jacket and asked to listen carefully to an important orientation and safety presentation. Then away we go!!!

Each day will be spent anticipating the whitewater and enjoying the serenity of the Colorado River, playing in inflatable kayaks whenever possible, stopping for lunch, taking swim breaks and hikes. As evening approaches we'll find an inviting beach, set up camp, and later sit down to a fine dinner prepared by your guides.

Come morning, your guides will have hot coffee ready and a tempting hot breakfast to help stir you out of your tent. Then it's time to pack up and hit the river for another day of Cataract Canyon excitement! The whitewater section begins shortly after we pass the confluence of the Green and Colorado rivers.

All good things must come to an end, so after traveling 96 river miles together, the time will come to bid farewell to your river guides and new friends alike. Once we land at the boat ramp near Hite Marina on Lake Powell, we'll load your dry bags on the van and take off for the 3½-hour ride back to Grand Junction, arriving at approximately 7:00 p.m. There's also a refreshment stop along the way, so you might want to keep some cash handy.

We're looking forward to seeing you. Please call if we can answer any questions. Thank you for choosing Adventure Bound River Expeditions.
