Employment

Each year, Adventure Bound River Expeditions accepts applications for Apprentice River Guide, River Guide and Driver positions. All positions are full time and seasonal. Minimum age requirements apply. The application deadline is February 15th of each year.

To be considered for the Apprentice River Guide position, you must hold a current certification in Emergency Response and CPR, or be enrolled in an approved course. This is approximately a 43-hour course and a three-year card. If you have current first-aid that you believe to be equivalent to this course, you can verify this information by contacting the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation at (435) 259-3750. If you need information on the Emergency Response course, you may contact the Grand Junction Red Cross at (970) 242-4851. Please note: the American Red Cross also offers a 24-hour certification called "Responding to Emergencies". This course does not qualify for the position offered at Adventure Bound.

The Apprentice Guide position consists of 24 working days per month and pays a monthly salary. Veteran river guides will be paid depending on level of experience and expertise. Driving positions are paid on an hourly basis. First-aid training is not required for driving positions. Room and board is not provided. All applicants will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.

To apply, please submit a completed employment application along with photocopies of your driver's license and first-aid/CPR certifications. If you are now enrolled, or plan to enroll in a first-aid or CPR course, please provide details including course title, description and the date you expect to complete the course. Experienced guides should include copies of their guide license(s), river log and any relevant training documentation when submitting an application.

Because we receive many applications each year, a letter explaining who you are and the reason you are applying would be helpful. Each applicant will be considered based on ability and aptitude, people skills and their respect for the environment. Being available to work our entire season (April-September) and a commitment to future seasons is a plus.

Those considered for positions will be invited to an interview.

Thank you,
