Eighteen-Day Yampa/Green/Colorado
Twenty four-Day Gates of Lodore-Hite Marina

After spending hours around campfires speculating about ideal raft trips, Adventure Bound has pooled the resources necessary to offer special 18 and 24-day expeditions. The 18-day, beginning at Deerlodge Park, will begin June 1st, and ride the crest of the high water snow melt down the Yampa, Green and Colorado rivers. An ideal high water chase! The 24-day trip begins at the Gates of Lodore on the Green River and will launch September 1st. Each trip is designed to allow plenty of time to explore rarely visited side canyons and other special stops along the way.

When we arrive at our normal take-out for Dinosaur National Monument trips at Split Mountain, the oar boats will be re-supplied and equipped with an outboard motor. Our rafts will buzz through the little-traveled stretch of the Green in the Uintah Valley. This stretch is ideal for bird watching along the banks, covered with thickets of tamarisk and willow. Numerous historical Indian sites in the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation are within walking distance from shore. Next, we enter the mouth of Desolation Canyon. Desolation and Grey canyons contain 50 rapids, cool, clear-water tributaries, numerous Anasazi sites, isolated, abandoned ranches and unspoiled wilderness. A change of rafts awaits us at Green River, Utah. We will re-launch with 27-foot pontoons and motors for the final leg of the trip. The sheer walls of Stillwater and Labyrinth Canyons open the Green into a meandering course past Anasazi ruins and decrepit uranium mines. The confluence of the Green and Colorado is followed by the rapids of Cataract Canyon. Lake Powell will force the trip to a close as the waters of the Colorado are stilled behind Glen Canyon Dam.

This trip promises to be the raft trip of a lifetime! Over 400 miles of wilderness and water, hundreds of rapids, dozens of mouth-watering meals and untold memories lie in store for those willing to experience this premier adventure.
